Common Goldeneye

Waterfowl - Common Goldeneye is a mid-sized duck. They do not breed in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can see them here locally from late fall until spring migration. Their courtship rituals are a curiosity to watch and can be seen in the San Francisco Bay and Lake Merritt and most other large bodies of water.

I took a first and short trip to check out this new park. It did not disappoint! I spotted a couple of birds I have not seen before and almost walked right up to a deer. I was delighted to see a Green Heron for the first time. It was very shy and really kept its distance. I hope to return soon and work more on this album.
